Dr Chris Harris

Chris Harris is visiting senior industrial fellow in Sustainable Power Distribution at Bath University.  He has held visiting positions in energy policy (Exeter University), engineering and informatics (Bradford University), and decision science (London Business School). He has PhD’s in fracture mechanics (Cambridge University) and regulatory economics (Bath University).  He was chair of the 2021 British Institute of Energy Economics biennial research conference “Energy for a Net Zero Society”.  He has published four textbooks on electricity (markets, welfare, costs, peak load pricing) and delivered many lectures and presentations in relation to gas and electricity. His career roles include consulting,  trading and marketing, quantitative analysis, power stations (head of asset management at National Power) and regulation (head of regulation at npower).  He was appointed as the Deputy Independent Member of the SEM Committee on 1 November 2022.
